Archiving Digital Geospatial Data - Conference Plenary Session With Nevada State Archives and National Archives and Records Administration
May 9, Reno
The expansion of GIS as a service depends, of course, on widespread, up-to-date geographic datasets. The volume of geographic data has grown exponentially during the last fifty years. These data are in digital form. How will future decades find, search, and gain access to the digital geospatial data of today (and yesterday, and the day before)? For instance, how will someone in 2020 (less than ten years from now) find and use spatial data from 2011 used for a planning decision? The plenary session of the 2011 NGIS Conference is a triad of panel discussions, with participation from the floor, on archiving digital geospatial data. We have convened the top scientists in the nation to participate in this session – the first of its kind for many years, but certainly not the last o this topic. Attend and participate!
